Chiriquí

Veritas Village – Chiriquí sits in the foothills of western Panama, between the towns of La Concepción and Bugaba and within reach of David, the provincial capital and the largest city in the west of the country. The Costa Rican border is about half an hour away and the Pacific coast under an hour, which places the site between the highlands and the sea.

Chiriquí is Panama’s agricultural province, and this is the village where that matters most. The land is volcanic soil with a river running along one boundary and a swimming hole where residents reach it. The climate is temperate rather than hot, warm through the day and cool in the evening, and wet enough to grow food all year. Of the four villages it is the one where self-sufficiency asks least of the site: a food forest, community gardens, a greenhouse and a chicken coop are all drawn into a plan of just fourteen lots.

It is also deliberately small. The master plan divides the property into fourteen residential lots, between roughly 490 and 810 square metres each, arranged along a private road and around a shared centre with a community pool, a rancho, a workshop and four guest units. Further land alongside is marked for a later phase. Seven house models are offered, from a studio of about 400 square feet to a three-bedroom of around 1,150, each named after a bird found in the region.
