The people you would be joining
Founders, residents, researchers and the curious, at the conference in Prague, at meetups from Dubai to Montelibero, and in the conversations in between.
The conference pays for itself. Members pay for the rest.
Since 2025 the Free Cities Conference has covered its own costs through tickets and sponsors. Everything else the Foundation does is funded by its members and donors.
Research
The Free Private Cities whitepaper, the topic explainers and the directory of projects, kept free and up to date.
Media
The Free Cities Podcast, the news and the documentary Zones of Progress.
Gatherings
The meetups, the ambassador network and the community calendar that connect the movement between conferences.
Funded by members, conference tickets and sponsors.
None of this would be possible without our growing international community. In 2025 it filled the Free Cities Conference in Prague with 325 people from more than 50 countries, and in 2026 it brought 250 people to Próspera on Roatán, Honduras, for the first Free Cities Conference ever held inside a Free City. The conference now pays for itself through tickets and sponsors. Everything else we do, the podcast, the research, the directory and this site, is paid for by members and donors, and we are careful with every dollar. If you want this movement to keep punching above its weight, join us.

Questions about giving
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Free Cities Foundation is a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 99-0806210). Your gift may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donors outside the United States should check the rules where they pay tax. A receipt is emailed automatically, and every receipt can be downloaded again in your Member Portal.
Can I change or cancel my membership?
Yes, at any time. Sign in to your Member Portal to change the amount, move to another tier or stop a recurring gift. There is no minimum term.
Can I pay in euros, or by bank transfer?
Card and PayPal payments are charged in US dollars and converted by your bank at its own rate. For a bank transfer or any other arrangement, email us and we will set it up with you: info@free-cities.org
Can I give in Bitcoin or stablecoins?
Yes. One-time gifts can be paid in Bitcoin through our own payment server, and card payments through Stripe also accept USDC. Recurring memberships are paid by card or PayPal.
What is the Member Portal, and how do I get in?
The Member Portal is for donors. Make a gift of any amount, once or monthly, then sign in with the email you gave with. Inside are your receipts and annual statements, the annual report, and the tools to change a recurring gift or suggest an event for the community calendar.
