Ricardo Gonzalez

Ricardo A. González is a Honduran attorney and entrepreneur, and the founder and managing attorney of GALCO Legal, with close to a decade of experience in corporate law, investment and business development. He holds a Master of Laws in corporate law from Penn State Law, and has held senior legal and governmental roles within Próspera, overseeing legal compliance, incorporations and business development. He advises local and international companies, entrepreneurs and investors operating in Honduras, and describes his focus as the legal frameworks that let new ideas and businesses grow. Before Penn State he led operations at a law firm working with technology startups and mentored in incubation programmes such as Honduras Digital Challenge; he also worked at the Eleutera Foundation on research and advocacy for economic freedom in Honduras, and held student leadership roles at the University of San Pedro Sula, including president of the law students association.

His work in Próspera is the everyday machinery of a jurisdiction with its own company law: incorporations, compliance, and the questions that arise when a business registered under a zone framework has to deal with counterparties and banks outside it.

Before that he worked at the Eleutera Foundation, the Honduran think tank that has argued for economic freedom in the country for years and did much of the groundwork of persuasion that made the ZEDE framework politically possible at all.
