CryptoCity

CryptoCity is an intentional community planned for Isla de Margarita, a holiday island off the coast of Venezuela. It is aimed at a small circle of freedom-oriented, high-net-worth entrepreneurs seeking a second home in a tropical setting and a base for high-value business networking.

As its name suggests, the project is organised around a cryptocurrency-based internal economy, a natural fit in a country where years of hyperinflation have made stablecoins and digital payments commonplace. Its master plan envisages residential plots, a beachfront with a beach club, an office complex, a supermarket and a restaurant, with an existing hotel, golf course and port nearby.

CryptoCity is structured as a decentralised autonomous organisation: buying land grants members tokens that carry voting rights over communal spending, weighted by the size of their plot. A pooled joining fee is invested to fund shared services for members, such as security, maintenance and gardening. The island itself holds special economic zone status within Venezuela, with favourable tax treatment for foreign-sourced income and for remote workers.
