Emile Phaneuf III is a Research Associate for the Center for Market Education, an ambassador of the Free Cities Foundation and a member of the Mont Pelerin Society. His articles and essays have been published in several languages by Zero Hedge, Bitcoin Magazine, Nasdaq, the Independent Institute, Procesos de Mercado and Instituto Mises Brasil, and have been featured in The New York Times, The Japan Times and The Economic Times.
He writes on money, governance and flag theory for economic outlets rather than for a specialist audience. He came to it late. He spent over a decade in international business development, first at the World Trade Center Arkansas and then in senior export management roles in the United States and New Zealand for manufacturers in mining and in food and drink, and as a younger man served in the Security Forces of the United States Air Force, stationed at home and in Japan.
His interest is in the overlap between Austrian economics and Bitcoin: two bodies of thought that reached the same conclusion about money from opposite directions, one philosophical and one an engineering result, and that the Free Cities movement now draws on together.
He holds a double-degree Master's in Economics from OMMA Business School Madrid and Universidad Francisco Marroquín, and an MA in political science and a BA in international relations from the University of Arkansas. Based in Asunción, Paraguay.
