Emile Phaneuf III is a Research Associate for the Center for Market Education, an ambassador of the Free Cities Foundation and a member of the Mont Pelerin Society. His articles and essays have been published in several languages and featured in outlets including The New York Times, The Japan Times and Bitcoin Magazine. Before turning to economics he spent over a decade in international business development across the United States and New Zealand, and earlier served in the United States Air Force. He holds a double-degree Master's in Economics from OMMA Business School Madrid and Universidad Francisco Marroquín.
He writes on money, governance and flag theory for economic outlets rather than for a specialist audience, having come to economics after degrees in international relations and political science at the University of Arkansas.
His interest is in the overlap between Austrian economics and Bitcoin: two bodies of thought that reached the same conclusion about money from opposite directions, one philosophical and one an engineering result, and that the Free Cities movement now draws on together.
