Isabela Christo is the Chief of Staff of the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE). Previously, she was a strategic advisor at Minas Gerais State Government (Brazil), where she was in charge of putting into practice her master’s thesis research on how to create a Special Economic Zone in the state of Minas Gerais that would attract international investment. She has also worked with the Brazilian Government at its Mission to the United Nations in New York and with different renowned non-profits in the United States. Isabela is a Schwarzman Scholar Alumna at Tsinghua University and a Georgetown University Alumna of the Latin America Leadership Program.
The Foundation for Economic Education is the oldest free-market think tank in the United States, founded in 1946, and best known for publishing Leonard Read’s essay I, Pencil. Running it day to day is the work of a chief of staff.
Her own research was on the practical question rather than the philosophical one: what a Brazilian state would actually have to legislate, and what it would have to give up, to make a special economic zone attractive to foreign capital.
