Dušan Matuška

Dušan Matuška is a Bitcoin teacher and miner, and one of Slovakia’s leading educators in the field. A former maths tutor, he helps people understand Bitcoin so they can protect their wealth from inflation. With support from Próspera he is building AmityAge Academy, a Bitcoin education centre on the Honduran island of Roatán, largely financed by his mining activities in Paraguay.

AmityAge, which he founded with two partners, mines bitcoin in Paraguay and Ethiopia, using hydroelectric power near the Itaipú dam and elsewhere, and the mining pays for the education work rather than the other way round.

That education work is the point. He runs a Bitcoin centre on Roatán, built the AmityAge Bitcoin Educators Academy to train other teachers, and translated a Bitcoin primer into Slovak, crowdfunding enough to put several thousand copies into Slovak schools. His stated aim of reaching a hundred million people is less a target than a way of saying that the constraint is teachers rather than interest.

Próspera supported the education centre on Roatán, which is the sort of exchange these zones exist for: a jurisdiction that wants a particular kind of resident, and a project that needs somewhere it can simply operate.
