Dušan Matuška is a Bitcoin teacher and miner, and one of Slovakia’s leading educators in the field. A former maths tutor, he helps people understand Bitcoin so they can protect their wealth from inflation. Inside the Próspera jurisdiction on the Honduran island of Roatán he runs the Bitcoin Center Roatán, which opened in November 2022 as the first Bitcoin education centre in the country and is financed by his mining business.
AmityAge, which he founded with two partners, mines bitcoin in Paraguay and Ethiopia on hydroelectric power, including a site near the Itaipú dam, and has since added an Alberta operation running on stranded and flared gas at the wellhead. The mining pays for the education work rather than the other way round.
That education work is the point. He built the AmityAge Bitcoin Educators Academy to train other teachers, which first ran in Bratislava in January 2024 and has since held academies in more than a dozen countries, and he translated a Bitcoin primer into Slovak, crowdfunding enough to put over two thousand copies into Slovak schools. His stated aim of reaching a hundred million people by 2030 is less a target than a way of saying that the constraint is teachers rather than interest.
He chose the Próspera jurisdiction for the education centre, which is the sort of exchange these zones exist for: a jurisdiction that wants a particular kind of resident, and a project that needs somewhere it can simply operate.
