Questions?

A few of the things people ask most, from the dress code to bringing the family and where to stay.

All FAQs
  • Where does the conference take place?

The main conference takes place at Empire Hall, a grand Art-Deco ballroom inside the Slovanský Dům complex at Na Příkopě 859/22, in the heart of Prague’s historic centre. Both main conference days, Friday and Saturday, run here.

Thursday’s warm-up drinks and Sunday’s Decentralized Day take place at nearby venues in the city, which we confirm closer to the event. You’ll find the full address, a map and getting-around tips on the venue page.

  • What is the conference like?

Our recent conferences have drawn participants from more than 50 countries: perpetual travellers, digital nomads, entrepreneurs looking to start or relocate businesses in Free Cities, and investors backing Free City projects. You’ll have the chance to mingle with around 40 speakers leading the development of Free Cities or working in related fields such as architecture, urban planning and Flag Theory.

The schedule pairs impactful talks with plenty of room to connect. The main stage features short, engaging talks (10–20 minutes each) that introduce a wide range of topics, while evening social events and Sunday’s interactive Decentralized Day are designed to help you exchange ideas and build lasting relationships.

Sunday puts the spotlight on the audience: expect rotating panels, “Ask Me Anything” sessions with experts on everything from seasteading to international tax planning, and lighter, more exploratory discussions.

  • When should I arrive and depart?

The main conference talks run on Friday, October 29th and Saturday, October 30th, with networking events on the sidelines. To comfortably take everything in, we recommend arriving in Prague by Thursday, October 28th, when a welcome drinks mixer kicks things off, and departing on or after the evening of Sunday, October 31st, once the Decentralized Day and closing socials wrap up.

That said, we’d encourage you to stay a little longer. Prague is a fantastic city with stunning architecture, rich history and a vibrant cultural scene, and many of our attendees extend their trip to enjoy it and spend more time with fellow participants.

  • Can I bring my kids to the Free Cities Conference?

Yes. The Free Cities Conference is a family-friendly event. Children under 18 attend free when accompanied by a paying adult, and a supervised children’s play area is available in the networking room during the two main conference days.

For safeguarding reasons, every child must be registered with us in advance. The dedicated kids page has the full details: the play area, evening childcare options and family-friendly places to stay.

  • What should I wear to the conference?

We kindly ask attendees to dress in business attire. For men, this typically means a shirt with a jacket, smart trousers and formal shoes. For women, business clothing such as a dress, skirt or trousers with a blouse or jacket is recommended.

Why a dress code? The Free Cities community is united by the ambition to build new societies. Dressing well reflects the seriousness of our mission and shows respect to our speakers and fellow participants.
