Zuzana Martakova

Zuzana Martakova leads business development in Europe for Freeth'm, a venture building decentralised, self-sufficient towns for freedom-seekers. A long-time advocate of individual liberty and laissez-faire economics, she represents the project within the Free Cities community.

Freeth’m plans privately operated settlements built around a voluntary contract: residents agree in advance to the conditions, the duration and the cost of living there, keep their privacy and property rights under that agreement, and remain free to leave. The towns are designed to run off-grid, with renewable power, water recycling and food production from aquaponics and agrovoltaics, and with everything inside walking distance. The venture works out of Portugal and Spain and states a goal of a hundred such communities by 2036.

Martakova’s part is the demand side: finding the partners, investors and residents who turn a plan into a town, and explaining a contractual community to people who have only ever lived in a municipal one. She introduced the project to the movement at the Liberty in Our Lifetime conference in 2024, and has followed libertarian philosophy and laissez-faire economics for more than a decade.
