Scott Schneider

Scott Schneider is a space lawyer working at the intersection of international law, technological innovation and individual liberty. He is general counsel of the Space Generation Advisory Council and strategy director at the Live and Let Live Foundation, and speaks on new legal and governance models for the space frontier.

He became general counsel of the Space Generation Advisory Council in 2024 and was named one of its Pioneer Award recipients in 2025. He is also special counsel at the International Aerospace Law and Policy Group, where his work covers public international law, licensing for space activities and law reform.

Space is the one frontier where the questions this movement asks are already live in treaty law. The Outer Space Treaty forbids national appropriation but says little about what private actors may own or how disputes between them are settled, which leaves the rules for permanent settlement genuinely unwritten rather than merely unreformed.

He serves on the council of the Live and Let Live Foundation, which argues that the law should protect anyone living peacefully in whatever way they choose, and speaks on governance models for settlements beyond Earth.
