Danny Hertle handles social media, digital communication and content production for Staatenlos, the German-language emigration and perpetual-travel consultancy founded by Christoph Heuermann. He looks after the organisation’s online presence, works on how its material is presented across its channels, and is one of the points of contact between the team and the Staatenlos community.
Staatenlos publishes in German at staatenlos.ch and in English at denationalize.me, with Spanish, French and Portuguese arms, and its subject is flag theory: the practice of splitting citizenship, residence, business, banking and assets across several countries so that no single government holds all of them. Most of what it produces is practical rather than ideological, covering residence permits, tax residency, company structures and the ordinary friction of living outside the country you were born in.
That places his work next to the Free Cities question rather than inside it. The movement argues about what a better jurisdiction would look like; Staatenlos deals with the people who have already decided to leave the one they have, and with what they find when they arrive. His own part of it is the communication: taking a subject that is mostly paperwork and making it legible to a large German-speaking audience.
