Mason

Mason is the Chair of Atlas Island, an organization dedicated to supporting individual sovereignty by applying the principles of Free Cities to the world of seasteading. Atlas Island aims to become an archipelago of independent seasteading platforms that adhere to a common set of rules that protect natural rights. The project has a five-stage plan for developing an online community of seasteaders into a full offshore community.

He founded Atlas Island in 2021, taking the name from Atlas Shrugged, on the reasoning that arguing with people who do not want liberty is less useful than building somewhere for the people who do.

An engineer by background, he has since concentrated on the intermediate step the movement kept skipping. LiberArx is an open-source solar catamaran designed as a permanent home rather than as a boat, comfortable enough for a family and cheap enough to reproduce, on the argument that an archipelago has to begin with a single unit somebody will actually live on.
