Baixu

Baixu is an architect whose work moves between practice and public explanation. She previously supported the Free Cities Foundation by making videos that set out its core ideas for people meeting them for the first time.

She also runs a successful YouTube channel about interior design with over 300,000 subscribers.

The channel is not decoration on the day job. She takes real floor plans apart on camera and shows why a room does not work, which is architectural criticism aimed at people who will never commission a building but do have to live in one, and it reaches an audience far larger than any practice’s client list.

She is licensed in both the United Kingdom and Germany and trained at Cambridge, Bath and University College London, a conventional route into a profession she mostly discusses in unconventional venues.

She sees Free Cities as a way to unleash the creative power of architects, letting them build more mixed-use, human-scale urban spaces where thriving communities can develop.
